![]() Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge InstallI was looking all around today and I cannot find anything on this car specifically. I am installing an oil pressure gauge, it is an autometer electric model. It had a sender with a pipe thread on it and I was curious as to where this damn thing goes. Does it go in the place of the oil switch for the dummy light? That seems like the most logical place to me, but if I remove that and replace it with that thing for the gauge wont my light be on all the time? And also if this is correct and the sender goes there where the hell is that thing located? A photo of the proper place would be awesome. Aftermarket Oil Pressure GaugeHow To Install Oil Pressure GaugeI picked up a electrical autometer oil pressure gague. Originally posted by Canuck 93 Civic Si@May 17 2003, 04:59 PM Forget the. The oil pressure guage will wire to the oil sender canister down by your oil filter. Its the canister looking thingy screwed to the end of a hexagonal stalk. You will have to unplug your factory guage wire or figure out some way to split the signal so both guages work. ![]() Thanks in advance for any help, and sorry if I sound like a noob just wanna do it right the first time. Even if you just want the one sender it's by far the best practice to use a line extending from the sensor port to a remotely mounted sender. If you just screw the sender into the block it will likely eventually break from the engine vibrations and weight of the sender. Also, do as the DIY advises and find the proper NPT to BSPT adapter. The NPT will fit but will not seal properly as the thread pitch is a bit different. The extra fitting will also have the sender hanging out even further from the block making the recommendation of a remote sender even more important.
